My kids and I had an awesome, but way too short, weekend. We started out Saturday with breakfast at IHOP while the car was getting an oil change and then picked up Sorry and some Yahtzee scorepads and a set of darts. We then came home and I taught the girls to play darts and we played Sorry. It was fun just spending time together doing that. We then had pizza at the Hut and then came back and played some more. They were so excited to just play darts and Sorry. Then we went to a movie at the IMAX. We saw Mysteries Of The Nile and it was great. The girls had never been to an IMAX before and were just elated to see something like this. We picked up some fun things in the gift shop, too. After that was some DQ and then home to watch Man Of The House and eat popcorn. It was such a simple day and yet so much fun! It just flew by and we each enjoyed the time spent together. I have the best kids in the world!
Tonight was another great night. The softball team took second place on the season so we were seeded second for a single elimination tournament tonight. Since there were 6 teams, we got a bye in the 6:30pm round and played in the 7:40pm second round. It turns out that the 5th place team beat the 3rd place team to make it to round two. We got to play the 5th place team to advance to the championship game and beat them 8-7. It was a hard fought win, but we pulled it out. It also turns out that the last place team had beat the 1st place team to advance to the championship game. We had beat this team twice during the season and beat them again 18-15. I was elated! I was also shocked. We actually played the 5th and 6th place teams in that order to win the tournament. I was not prepared for that at all. I fully expected to play the 3rd and 1st place teams and wasn't sure how those games would go. I guess this is why the games are actually played. It was a great effort by the entire team for these two wins and a great way to cap off a summer of softball as the tournament champs!
Now if only the rest of the week goes that well...
